Fight of Titans

A battle between two of the best competitors can turn into most spectacular or dullest competition in history. And I have witnessed both in these two days at IPL.

Yesterday it was Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Riders where first MI put up stunning total of 187 and then knocked out Kolkata Riders at mere 95 as if that was a team of street players. That was a match where you could see super-players of past rejected in today’s 20-20 because of age factor, playing at their best. Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jaisurya recalled the best of their innings and showed the stamina that they posses which can still give fight to any best player in this world.

And today, it is between Delhi Daredevils Vs Rajasthan Royals which has turned out to be most boring match for me in this tournament so far. Both are other best teams in tournament and the way they are giving fight to each other and restring each other from moving forward is making this game as slow as it can be. First DD was restricted at 144 while seizing players like Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir from shining. Then Rajasthan Royals started off as loosely as it could until its star player Yusuf Pathan was on crease. At least one player didn’t disappoint and that is him. Enjoying match to the fullest when it is at it best moments and RR need 30 from 23 balls. Sehwag is definitely giving quite dooming looks!!

May the one deserving wins the match.

PS: I am betting on DD and MI in this year’s IPL because they appear well balanced teams to me and have proven it in first round matches so far.

Update (28/04/2009): RR has won the match by 5 wickets and Yusuf played as expected. He made 62 runs of 30 balls.
