WordPress.com increases storage limit

WordPress.com has increased storage limit for its users. Its free user space limit has increased from 50 MB to 3 GB (60x increase). Matt has written a post on WordPress.com official blog while comparing themselves to their nearest competitor – Typepad as they charge at least $300 a year for 1GB of space (little self-promotion isn’t bad when you are doing such good work!).

He is looking forward toward reforming Blogging world the way Gmail did for Emails –

Our hope is that much in the same way Gmail transformed the way people think about email, we’ll give people the freedom to blog rich media without having to worry about how many kilobytes are left in their upload space.

And if you are interested in uploading music and movies, you may think of going for upgrade which now provide 5GB of additional space.
