Gurgaon and Security

My room-mate was robbed on National Highway at 10 pm in Gurgaon at gun point (They 3 were on same bike with no number-plate) – does it mean Gurgaon, the next Big-Indian-Tech-City after Bangalore and Noida isn’t safe?

At least the newspapers and corporates think like that when IBM Global Services already issued advice to its staff about un-safety in Gurgaon –

Unsafe Gurgaon: IBM issues advice to staff

In a searing indictment of the law and order situation in the Millennium City, IBM Global Services an IT services arm of the US-based computer hardware major has issued a set of guidelines to its employees clearly listing out the dos and don’ts while travelling to and from office.

The guidelines come after last Monday’s incident of carjacking at gunpoint from outside the IBM Global Services office at Sector-18. The circular, issued by the internal security division of the company, says that most victims of carjacking, loot and mugging are those returning home late in the night especially in Gurgaon and adjoining areas.
