Google taking over your privacy

The New York Times has published a nice article about Google Maps taking over your privacy. A story which tells about a resident of Oakland – Mary Kalin-Casey who just thought of trying Google Maps and filled in her name which zoomed into as much as showing her living room windows at second floor of her house.

“The issue that I have ultimately is about where you draw the line between taking public photos and zooming in on people?s lives,” Ms. Kalin-Casey said in an interview Thursday on the front steps of the building. “The next step might be seeing books on my shelf. If the government was doing this, people would be outraged.”

There are also other examples in the article which talks about the zoom of technology into our day-to-day life which goes too much personal.

Of course, there has to be a line no matter how much obsessed you are, with technology!

Also, BBC has also published report concerning the Privacy Policy of Google. Even Softpedia has written about the difference between Google and Microsoft when it comes to books –

Unlike Google, Microsoft set up on the strenuous path to respect intellectual property. This is in fact the message that the Redmond Company is sending out when it comes to adding copyrighted materials in the services under the Windows Live brand umbrella. And nothing spells out the differences between Microsoft and Google as their respective strategies when it comes to copyrighted books being added to the two company’s search engines.

Seems like everyone is taking on Google these days.

But I was surprised to see that NY Times linked to LaudonTech.com but didn’t bother to link to Google Maps!! BBC doesn’t link at all :P.
