Have you heard about the latest news – Biz travellers choked Bangalore. Yes thats true. Is it less strangled presently when other travellers from all over the world are fighting to get room in this city :). It is running short of more than 500 rooms in 5 start hotels. So guys, here comes another news about Infrastructure-less city!
Biz travellers choke India’s IT hub
True to its global image as India’s silicon hub, Bangalore has surpassed Delhi and Mumbai in attracting the maximum number of foreign business travellers – to the extent that there is a shortage of 750-800 rooms in its five-star hotels.
According to the latest data on the hospitality sector in the city, 51 per cent of foreign business travellers flying into India visit Bangalore as against 35 per cent who go to Mumbai and 26 per cent to Delhi annually, thanks to the presence of multinationals, global IT firms and a number of defence, aeronautical and space research organisations.
“Though the city boasts of six-seven five-star hotels and a dozen four-star hotels, with a combined strength of about 3,000 rooms, the demand is so high that the hospitality sector is stretched out on the supply side, with leisure and domestic business travellers adding to the shortage,” said Taposh Chakraborty, president of Chancery Pavilion, the new five-star hotel in the city.
However, in the domestic business travellers’ segment, Bangalore is yet to catch up with its peers, as it attracts only 18 per cent of them compared to 26 percent by Delhi and 29 per cent by Mumbai.
